A lot of us are feeling parental burnout lately due to the pandemic. With virtual school, the recession, and so many other things happening at once, stress can start to take over.

Author and Podcaster Elle Martinez from Couple Money reviews 5 ways to prevent parental burnout during this difficult time for young parents. Pandemic parenting is in full-effect so it's important for us to combat the stress and support each other the best way we can. This episode is in response to a listener question from Paul:

“I am curious how your family is handling mental health whilst maintaining your budget/goals during COVID. I know kids and parents are more stressed and the lack of true ‘vacation time” ratchets the stressors upwards. What tips, tricks, and suggestions do you have for families during this difficult time?”

As a young mother herself, Elle shares personal and real-life examples of how she and her husband are working through this season and hopefully coming out better on the other side. Our goal with the conversation was to help Paul and many others like him who are dealing with parental burnout.

What are we covering?

Elle and I review the following:

  • The importance of communication in your marriage
  • How creating separate spaces for work, school and family is crucial
  • Why adjusting your budget for mental health reasons is a smart move

For those of you who have been listening for a while, you may have heard Elle Martinez on episodes entitled “How to Craft the Perfect Money Date” and “How to Talk to Your Spouse About Money“. Check those ones out too as a good marriage and money refresher!
