If you’re a Qube Money user, you’ve likely received the troubling emails over the past week. Qube has announced that, starting September 30, 2025, all money movement services will be paused as they search for a new banking partner.

That means:

  • Your Qube account at Choice Financial Group will close on September 30th.
  • You will not be able to deposit, spend, or transfer money in the app during this pause.
  • Any money left after September 30th will be mailed back to you by check within 45 days.

Qube later followed up with news of Qube Plus, a way to use the Qube app alongside your existing banks and credit cards. While this gives users a way to track spending, it does not include Qube’s most unique feature: declining transactions when a digital envelope is empty. That feature will not return until Qube secures a new bank sponsor.

What This Means for Qube Users

This is a major disruption. Users who relied on Qube’s envelope-style budgeting now face the hassle of:

  • Moving money out of Qube before September 30th.
  • Changing direct deposits and bill payments.
  • Waiting indefinitely for Qube’s relaunch with a new partner.

If you have been relying on Qube to manage your budget, this pause is more than inconvenient. It may leave you scrambling to find another solution.

Alternatives to Qube Money

While Qube figures things out, here are three strong budgeting options to consider:

1. Monarch Money

Monarch is one of the best overall budgeting and wealth tracking tools available today. It connects all your accounts in one place and provides powerful reporting, goal-setting, and family-sharing features. Here's our full review of Monarch Money.

2. YNAB (You Need a Budget)

YNAB is a leader in zero-based budgeting and gives users a proven framework to take control of every dollar. It is subscription-based, but many swear by its system for eliminating debt and staying accountable. Here's our full review of YNAB.

3. CrewBest Qube Alternative

Crew combines banking with digital envelope budgeting, very similar to Qube but without the headaches. It offers:

  • No subscription fees
  • A higher APY on savings
  • Tap-to-pay
  • Family-friendly money management with spending “pockets”

If you liked Qube for its envelope budgeting approach, Crew is the closest match and, in many ways, an upgrade. Here's our full Crew review.
