Key Takeaways from Jordan Grumet

Here are my top three takeaways from my conversation with Jordan Grumet.

Little P Purpose Over Big P Purpose

Creating daily habits and rituals that improve your overall quality of life is not only more realistic for most people, it may be better for you in the long run than waiting for that big goal to come to fruition.

For example, let's say I said to myself, “I’ll be happy when I reach Coast FIRE at 40 years old.” Or … “I’ll be happy when I retire comfortably at 65.”

Then I’m not focusing on what I could do to be happier today.

Add, Subtract or Replace

If financial independence or retirement means you’ll get to travel more, take care of your health, and spend time with loved ones … well, what can you do to add more of that in today?

I could subtract the amount of time I spend on meaningless activities so I could better take care of my health.

Maybe I replace my working situation with a lower-stress career so I can spend more time with my family?

Or I add a series of mini-vacations to my annual schedule instead of thinking vacation needs to be some big getaway.

Let’s find our happy life now.

Show Your Kids How

The best way to help our kids have a great life is to live a great life ourselves. We need to show them how to seize the day.

We need to show them that if you’re not happy in your current station in life, you make a plan and you change it.

Let them see your growth. Let them see your failure. And let them see your success. They are watching and they are learning.
